It is unusual for ringers to be charged for tuition, but this is an ambitious scheme with costs over and above simple volunteer time.
Materials were collected and developed by the Association of Ringing Teachers and we make sizeable donations back to them.
Each student is registered on the Learning the Ropes scheme entitling them to certificates for each stage passed and receives a welcome pack of materials and a “Moodle” website password.
We also give donations to the towers we use.
The basic cost is therefore £5 per 2hr Saturday morning session (concessions are available).
In addition we ask for voluntary donations for refreshments provided in each tower.
