Birmingham Universities Society of Change Ringers (BUSCR) is currently a thriving university society. We welcome students from all of the universities in Birmingham. We have a dedicated practice night at St Bartholomew, Edgbaston on Friday nights between 19:00 and 21:00 followed by drinks in the pub on The Vale. Like many other university societies, BUSCR have an annual dinner, multiple outings and frequent quarters throughout the year, alongside the occasional peal.

At BUSCR, we welcome complete beginners and can provide teaching for students from any of the Birmingham universities. Furthermore, our teaching is supported by experienced ringers from the St Martin’s Guild. On our usual practice night, we do anything from 1:1 rope handling to Surprise Minor – allowing our members to build confidence at their own pace, whilst giving them the opportunity to push their skills and learn something new.

Beyond our practice, we have many socials such as quizzes, barbecues, pancake evenings, and frequent curry nights. Our group has grown significantly to over 20 members. This growth has been paired with strong progression of members who learn with us, 4 of which had achieved their first quarter peals within 6 months of starting out with us.

We are always eager to have more students join us, experienced or not, so please contact us if you’d like to come along!
