George Fearn (1906-1974) was an accomplished ringer who developed a weekly peal ringing culture in Birmingham. A significant number of ringers developed their 12-bell ringing as direct result of the weekly Birmingham Cathedral peals, an institution George founded.
An assessment of George’s life, written by John Loveless, was published on 9 August 2024. Titled ‘Fifty years on: revisiting an astonishing ringing career’ it is reproduced here with kind permission from The Ringing World.
